This body of work is meant to be seen as a Memento Mori. They all tackle the concept of one’s mortality, a reminder that there is a beginning, a middle and an end to life and that our time here is fleeting whether you decide to strive for greatness or live a modest life or a less than desired life, it all will come to an end. The knowledge of which, is what makes life so enriching knowing that it will end but not exactly when, so u try to soak up as much life as you can while you’re living it.
Try to hold on to the things that matter and try to release or detach yourself from the things that don’t.
Viaticum is a Latin word that means, food for the journey, in my religion it’s part of the last rights a person gets right before they pass on.
I came up with this collection during the most difficult year of my life thus far, we were in the middle of a pandemic and during the course of the year I’ve lost close family and friends due to illness and I’ve had to deal with my own mother being diagnosed with cancer… the feeling of helplessness was unbearable. This feeling led me to think about what really matters in life and I had the “if I knew this would have been the last time, I would have …” moments…. Talking to friends and people around me I know these past 2 years have been a great loss to most people and I’m not quite sure the world has even begun to process what we’ve just been through… the lives lost, the lock downs, the job losses… this collection is my release of all the emotions felt during this time.

Red Petaled Beauty
The chaconia flower was chosen to be the running motif in all the pieces created in this series.
This collection of pieces tells the story of the unifying theme of femininity, showcased by none other than T&T’s national flower; the Chaconia. Flowers are widely used to symbolise femininity and beauty.
Specific to Trinidad and Tobago, the Chaconia Flower is not only one of our National emblems, it is also symbolic of the strength and longevity of life and the pulsating beauty that flows through our nation
